The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a public service program conducted by the Government of India. The scheme was launched on 24 September 1969, aimed at developing students personality through community services. The motto of the NSS scheme’s “Not Me But You”. The programme aims to provide services to society without bias. NSS volunteers work to ensure that everyone who is needy gets help to enhance their standard of living and lead a life of dignity. The cardinal principle of the NSS programme is that it is organized by the volunteers themselves and both students and teachers through their combined participation in community service, get a sense of involvement in the task of the nation building.

In our college there are four units of NSS. The NSS unit is determined for the over all development of the students. Different types of activities are conducted throughout the year. Students are registered in the unit after admission and trained to become volunteers. They are equipped with the basic kit. Every volunteer is required to complete 120 hours of regular activities in one year. NSS activities have been divided into two groups i.e. regular activities and special camps.

Regular activities:- These types of activities are performed by the volunteers throughout the academic session. Students of the unit participate in social work at various places. Under compulsory activities volunteers are trained for NSS songs, prayers, P.T. , yoga and regular games. Programme officers of the unit conducts orientation programmer for NSS volunteers to impart information regarding yearly schedule, logo, motto and other setup and organized different awareness programs, lectures medical camps, Matdata Jagrukata Abhiyan etc.

Creative activities:- The volunteers have to participate in creative activities through some programmes such as - programmes on literacy, health awareness, economic development, social welfare, and environment like water conservation, save water, pollution etc. For all these creative activities programme officers organized rallies, guest lectures, quiz competition, rangoli, medical health camps, poster competition, essay writing competitions etc. with the help of volunteers.

Seven day Special Camp:- Every NSS unit in the college organizes 7 day special camp. In these camps the volunteers perform various tasks for social welfare.
